Lindsay and Jason’s engagement session at Morton Arboretum felt like a full-circle moment for me. I photographed Lindsay’s sister’s wedding a couple of years ago at The Roundhouse. It was great to reconnect with their family again. If you want to see that day, you can view it here: https://lillyphotography.com/two-brothers-round-house-wedding-photography/
Lindsay and Jason are working with many of the same vendors. That familiarity makes everything feel easier. It helps the day run smoothly and keeps things relaxed.
We met at Morton Arboretum on a beautiful day. The light was already great when we started. They brought a few simple props and set up a small picnic scene. It was a perfect touch. It gave them something natural to do together.
The picnic setup led to more candid moments. Nothing felt forced. They were able to just be themselves, which always shows in the photos.
As the sun dropped, we moved into golden hour. This is my favorite time to shoot at the Arboretum. The light gets soft and warm. It filters through the trees and creates a really natural glow.
We kept everything simple and easy. I gave very little direction. Most of the session was about letting them interact naturally. That’s where the best moments always come from.
Sessions like this are a good reminder. You don’t need much to create something meaningful. A great location helps. Good light makes a difference. Most importantly, you need a couple that is comfortable being together.
