The day before Thanksgiving, I had the pleasure of capturing Wyatt’s surprise proposal to Amanda in Chicago. Earlier in the week, Wyatt reached out for recommendations on skyline locations. In my opinion, North Avenue Beach offers one of the best views in the city.

Despite the cold and windy weather, we set a plan in motion. Wyatt and Amanda would head to the beach, pretending to meet a friend. Meeting someone there in winter seemed unusual, but Amanda didn’t suspect a thing.

When they arrived, Wyatt approached me and asked if I could take a quick photo of them with his phone. As I framed the shot, he dropped to one knee, and I immediately started capturing the moment.

She said “YES!” We wrapped up the session with a few portraits of the newly engaged couple against the stunning Chicago skyline.
