Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to photograph Dan’s surprise proposal to Devin at Montrose Beach in Chicago. Even in the winter, Montrose offers a beautiful and peaceful backdrop, soft lakefront light, open shoreline, and plenty of space for private moments. With the help of Dan’s family, roses, champagne, and a thoughtfully arranged setup were ready for the big moment. Everyone kept a distance as the couple walked up, ready to cheer once she said yes.

Devin was filled with happy emotions, and the moment between the two of them was absolutely priceless. After the proposal, the families gathered for hugs, photos, and a celebratory toast with champagne. It was the perfect blend of romance, planning, and authentic storytelling, everything I love about documentary-style proposal photography.
