Last week, I had the opportunity to photograph Shouvik’s proposal to Suvi at the Honeycomb in Lincoln Park, one of the most popular and scenic proposal locations in Chicago. The Honeycomb’s architecture and open natural light always create a beautiful backdrop for candid moments.

A Perfectly Planned Surprise

Shouvik set up the moment by pretending to position his camera on a tripod. Since he and Suvi are both photography hobbyists who often take pictures together, the setup felt natural to her and kept the surprise hidden. When he got down on one knee, the reaction was genuine and full of emotion.

Celebrating Their Engagement

After she said yes, we spent a few minutes capturing their excitement and the joy of the moment. The Honeycomb and the surrounding Lincoln Park paths gave us plenty of space for relaxed, documentary-style portraits without interrupting their experience.

This proposal was a great example of how a simple plan, a meaningful location, and a candid approach create authentic engagement photos. Lincoln Park continues to be one of the best places in Chicago for surprise proposals and natural, storytelling images.
