Getting Ready at The Westin
Emily and Matthew began their wedding day at The Westin Michigan Avenue in Chicago. Emily finished her preparations there, while Matthew joined her for a relaxed first look. It was a calm start before the pace of the day picked up.
Portraits in Lincoln Park
We moved to Lincoln Park near the zoo for portraits. The couple wanted a natural setting, and the park was a perfect fit. It was also a busy day, with multiple wedding parties and another ceremony happening nearby. Even so, we were able to find quiet pockets for portraits and candid moments.
Ceremony and Reception at Salvatore’s
The ceremony and reception took place at Salvatore’s Banquets & Events. The room filled quickly with family and friends, creating an energetic and welcoming atmosphere.
The speeches were heartfelt and balanced with plenty of laughter. Later in the evening, the traditional Hora dance brought everyone to the dance floor and set the tone for the rest of the night.
A Surprising Game Watching Moment
Many of Emily’s family traveled in from New York. That night, the New York Knicks were playing in the NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs.
During the reception, a small group gathered in the corner to watch the final minutes. When the Knicks won, the reaction spilled into the room. Guests cheered briefly before returning to the celebration.
Closing Moments
The rest of the night was filled with dancing, conversations, and steady energy from start to finish. Emily and Matthew’s wedding had a strong mix of tradition, family, and spontaneous moments that made the day feel real and memorable.
