Koval Distillery Wedding

Our latest wedding brought us to KOVAL Distillery in Chicago’s Ravenswood neighborhood for Ignacio and Saoirse’s intimate celebration. Their day began with a heartfelt ceremony at the Cancer Survivors’ Garden in Millennium Park, one of Chicago’s most unique outdoor wedding venues. Surrounded by just 20 of their closest family members, the couple exchanged vows in a short but deeply meaningful ceremony. A highlight was when their nephews and cousins surprised Ignacio with bubble guns, filling the garden with light and laughter—a perfect candid moment that reflected their playful spirit.

Following the ceremony, guests gathered at KOVAL Distillery for a relaxed and personal reception. This was my first time photographing at KOVAL, and I loved the venue’s warm, casual atmosphere paired with its industrial-chic aesthetic. The evening featured signature cocktails from the distillery and an incredible taco dinner that kept everyone smiling. Instead of a formal program, Ignacio and Saoirse curated a playlist of their favorite songs, setting the tone for a night of dancing and connection.

As a documentary wedding photographer, I was drawn to the unscripted moments—the joy of family seeing each other after the ceremony, the laughter over cocktails, and the carefree dancing that wrapped up the night. Ignacio and Saoirse’s wedding was a beautiful reminder that intimate weddings can be just as full of energy, love, and meaning as large celebrations.
