Regina & Alex’s Chicago City Hall Elopement

I had the great honor of documenting Regina and Alex’s intimate City Hall elopement in downtown Chicago. Surrounded by their closest friends and family, the couple chose a meaningful and personal way to celebrate their love.

It was a popular day to get married at Chicago’s City Hall, with a long line of couples waiting. Regina and Alex patiently waited nearly 45 minutes before it was their turn. When they finally stepped in front of the judge, they took a moment to exchange their own handwritten vows. This made their ceremony feel incredibly personal, emotional, and unique—something truly special despite the courthouse setting.

After the ceremony, we headed to the South Garden at the Art Institute of Chicago for portraits. This location is one of my favorites for elopements in the city—it offers a peaceful escape with beautiful greenery and architectural elements, just steps away from Michigan Avenue.

If you’re planning a Chicago courthouse wedding or City Hall elopement, it’s worth noting that weekday mornings tend to be busiest, especially during warmer months. Arriving early and allowing extra time for the wait is a smart move.

Regina and Alex’s day was a perfect example of how small, meaningful weddings can be just as powerful as big celebrations. I’m so glad I could be there to capture it.
