Kelly and Matt’s wedding was a special one for us because it was our first time photographing a ceremony in the beautiful Cantigny Park Gardens. Located in Wheaton, Illinois, Cantigny Park offers a stunning setting for outdoor weddings, with formal gardens, historic architecture, and beautiful open spaces throughout the property.

A few years earlier, we had planned to photograph another ceremony at Cantigny Park. Unfortunately, rain forced the couple to move their ceremony indoors to the Visitor’s Gallery. This time, however, Kelly and Matt were fortunate to have a beautiful sunny day for their outdoor wedding ceremony.

Their families were incredibly welcoming throughout the day. Their sisters were also a huge help, jumping in as our unofficial assistants whenever we needed an extra hand. Those little moments of family interaction added even more personality to the wedding day.

At one point, we noticed the sky developing some incredible clouds. The light and clouds were too good to pass up, so we quickly pulled Kelly and Matt outside for a few portraits. We only had about five minutes, but those five minutes were completely worth it. The dramatic sky created some of our favorite photographs from the day.

Cantigny Park provided a beautiful backdrop for Kelly and Matt’s wedding photography. From the gardens and outdoor ceremony to the surrounding landscape, the location gave us plenty of opportunities to capture natural moments and portraits without taking the couple away from their celebration for too long.
