Remember my 2012 october couple Aubrey and Ben? (Their engagement session can be found here) They had a baby boy a few months ago and his name is Asher. Our session got cut real short due to heavy rain that just came out of nowhere, but we managed to get a few good shots in the 20 minutes we had. We decided we will continue this shoot when Asher turns 6 months in August. Just look at that face!

Intercontinental Hotel Wedding Photography | Kim & Mike

Here is the first of 6 weddings in May, and what a wonderful way to start with Kim and Michael’s beautiful wedding at the Intercontinental hotel. Kim did an outstanding job with the little details for her wedding. The cake was designed with the same pattern on her dress and on each table sign, it had a picture of them at the age the table number represented. It was a wonderful night with excellent food, people, Jimmy Choo, live band, and a Mariachi band. Congratulations again and thank you for having us document your amazing wedding! I had the great pleasure to capture this sweet little family earlier this week. Claire was so good to me I was actually at ease during the whole shoot. I don’t get the chance to do many family sessions during the year due to my wedding schedule, but I do love to shoot them. Especially when they are cute as this little one!

I was introduced to Shannon and Jared through a mutual friend Colleen who arranged the engagement session with me as a gift to the engaged couple. Shannon and Jared lives in Rockford IL, so I thought the Ellwood House in Dekalb IL would be the perfect in between location for the both of us. The estate is now a museum but it was once the home of Isaac Ellwood, the man who developed barbed wire. I had a great time working with Shannon and Jared. They were really in the moment throughout the whole session, which made my job easy to get some natural intimate images. Here are some of my favorites.

I had the honor to photograph the joining of two families on April 15, 2012 at the beautiful White Eagle Golf Club in Naperville. I live less than 5 minutes away from the country club and this was my first time setting foot in there. It was a very intimate wedding invited with Karen and Chris’s families and closest friends. The whole day went by so naturally without any of the craziness you would expect from a wedding day. Congratulations to Karen and Chris and thank you for sharing your special day with us. Hyde Park Engagement Photography | Jessica & Misael

The morning started out great as the rain held up and we had the best overcast light one can ask for. I was getting great shots after another and we decided to head to another location so we returned back to our cars. That is when Misael noticed someone broke in to their car and stole Jessica’s purse and all the contents in it. It was a horrible feeling and it wasn’t even my car! But I could relate because it has happened to me before. We quickly called the police and made a report. It did shorten our engagement session, but we will continue the second part in a couple months. Here are a few images from our shoot.

This engagement session has been in the works for a long time and we finally made it happen before their wedding! These two were so playful when I was giving them directions, they were so easy to work with. Since the wedding will be at The Rookery next month, we decided to do their engagement session in the burbs. Here are some of the highlights from our time together. It was no secret I’ve been wanting to add an associate photographer to the team to photograph weddings. I was never in a hurry to get this position filled because a decision like this shouldn’t be rushed. Luck will have it, Missy’s name was given to me by Caitlin Hazelton, another very talented local photographer. The first time I met Missy, I had a gut feeling this was going to work. We both had the same standards in customer service and wedding photography. She brings over 10 years of experience in the wedding photography business and her wedding images are nothing short of outstanding. I wasn’t necessarily looking for someone to shoot like me, I wanted someone to bring their own creative style to compliment Lilly Photography with the same high standards in images.

I’m very excited to begin this new chapter. Help me welcome Missy to Lilly Photography!

Chicago engagement photography | Kristin & Russ

Kristin is originally from Texas who moved up to Chicago for a career in advertising. She was also a cheerleader for the Chicago Rush arena football team where she met Russ, the quarterback for the Chicago Rush. They’ve been engaged for a few months and they will have their wedding in Jamaica this December. Unfortunately, yours truly is a wanted man in Jamaica so will not be able to photograph their wedding. But seriously, she already had a photographer booked but contacted me late last week for engagement pictures in the city. She wanted to truly show off Chicago and I think we accomplished the task. They were so natural in front of the camera and my camera loved them too. I had such a great time with you guys, congratulations and happy beginnings to you!

Metropolis Wedding Photography | Julie & Aaron

I love doing first looks, and for our second wedding of the year, Julie and Aaron decided to have their first moment at the beautiful Lilacia park in Lombard. It was the perfect place for all the wedding colors to really pop. When I first met Aaron and Julie, I thought they might be on the little reserved side, but as I got to know them, they are hilarious and goofy like me. I really enjoyed working with these two. Their reception was held at the Metropolis Ballroom in Arlington heights and it was nothing short of amazing! I must say, the food was excellent.
