Last year, I had the privilege of capturing Andy’s proposal to Julie at the ice skating rink in Millennium Park. It was freezing, and my fingers felt like icicles, but it remains one of the most special events I’ve ever photographed.
This wasn’t just another proposal shoot—Andy isn’t just a client; he’s a dear friend I’ve known for nearly 20 years. No matter how much time passes, we always pick up right where we left off, sharing life updates over a tall glass of beer. He’s been there for me through everything, never making excuses, and I hope I’ve done the same for him.
That’s why I was incredibly honored when he became my daughter’s Godfather. Andy is someone with unwavering morals and deep faith, and I couldn’t think of a better person for that role. When I photographed their intimate ceremony at Julie’s parents’ house on 11-11-11, it was more than just a job—it was witnessing my brother from another mother start a new chapter with someone truly special.
Andy always spoke so highly of Julie before I met her, and now I see why. She is everything he said and more. I couldn’t be happier for them and wish them a lifetime of love and happiness. Welcome to the family, Julie!
I’ve included some photos from last year to complete their beautiful story.
