Nick planned to propose to Dylan in Chicago’s Lincoln Park. When I arrived, the original plan at the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool had to change because heavy rain closed the area. Luckily, we had a great backup plan nearby at the Honeycomb near South Pond.

Nick and Dylan walked toward the Honeycomb together under an umbrella as the rain poured down. I stayed nearby and patiently waited for the perfect moment. Nick got down on one knee and asked Dylan to marry him.

She said yes!

The pouring rain made the moment even more memorable. Instead of letting the weather take away from the experience, Nick and Dylan embraced it. The Honeycomb also gave us a covered location for some relaxed engagement portraits after the proposal.

We stayed under the structure to escape the rain and capture genuine moments between the newly engaged couple. The surrounding Lincoln Park scenery added a beautiful Chicago backdrop to their photos.

This Lincoln Park surprise proposal was a great reminder that plans can change, especially when you’re planning an outdoor proposal in Chicago. Having a backup location helped us keep the surprise on track and gave Nick and Dylan a memorable proposal story to share for years to come.
