Larry and Denise traveled from Georgia to Chicago for what Denise believed was a business trip, but Larry had a much bigger surprise planned—he was going to propose.
The original plan was to propose at the Garfield Park Conservatory, one of Chicago’s most iconic proposal locations. However, things didn’t go as expected. Larry accidentally gave the Uber driver the wrong address and sent them to their evening show location instead of meeting me at the conservatory.
Since I was already committed to another proposal that day, I quickly adjusted the plan so everything could still come together smoothly. After coordinating with Larry, we decided on a new location that would still feel special and authentic to their Chicago experience.
We ultimately chose the iconic Greetings From Chicago mural in Logan Square, a vibrant and recognizable landmark that’s perfect for couples visiting the city. The colorful mural made an ideal backdrop for a surprise Chicago proposal and engagement session.
When Larry got down on one knee, Denise’s reaction was full of emotion, excitement, and complete surprise. The moment was genuine and heartfelt, and she joyfully said yes. After the proposal, we spent time capturing engagement photos around the mural and the surrounding Logan Square neighborhood.
As a Chicago proposal photographer, I specialize in documenting surprise engagements at locations like the Chicago Riverwalk, Lincoln Park, Garfield Park Conservatory, and the Greetings From Chicago mural. Even when plans change, the story often becomes even more meaningful.
Larry and Denise’s engagement is a perfect reminder that sometimes unexpected moments lead to the best memories.
